about my last post.. i completely agree with not dancing around the subject with people but, you may not agree or you may think im totally stupid, these guys that say these things are big guys, usually drunk, and i have no idea who they are or what their past is like. and usually when it happens, im alone because i work audit. i dont have security on my property, and i am not willing to put my safety into question. if they aren't a guest and are locked outside then i am completely comfortable standing up for myself. but when the only thing between us is my front desk (or sometimes nothing!) i am not so sure how to go about the situation. they could be anyone, and im a rather small person. well i guess an average 5'5 girl. i dont have a "panic" button and i sure as hell cant overpower these guys. i guess thats why i dont flat out say "your inappropriate and you need to leave" or anything similar. i would rather they think im just a dumb girl and dont get what they are saying then have them get angry or make it awkward. like i said, they are capable of anything. i know i could get them thrown out if they do anything stupid and my management would back me up 100%, no question about that. i just would rather not have it come up at all. and for our regulars, i dont want to be the reason we are losing business and i dont want them to feel uncomfortable. i am used to catering to other people and their needs. but i plan on using the suggestions i got about just walking away or mentioning kids or something. maybe i will just act like an airhead who completely missed it.
i got called an air head today. he asked me how much sleep i got and i said "uhm like 6 hours" and then he asked me if i was married and i said ya and his friend said how long and i said "well my wedding is in 2 weeks but we have been together for 2 years" and he accused me of lying because im technically not married yet and he said he needed to ask me easier questions because im such an airhead =/
he had been drinking and im pretty sure he was just joking, but i wanted to scream! believe it or not im a very smart person, but i guess you cant go around trying to prove things to people you will never see again.. it just annoyed me |

Okay. It's been quite a time since I felt like capping more Star Trek episodes. It's just sooo much work to cap so many shows without any help. *sigh* Well, at least I was able to finish DS9 season 2 and began capping season 3. Plus I wanted to see some Voyager yesterday and that is why I can archive a nice bunch of episode caps.^^

I had this one dude that would always come in on my shift and complain that we charged him the wrong rate, etc, etc...I would always tell him that there was nothing I could do, because the accountant does the billing, and they don't want any of us besides the accountant to mess with any type of billing issue. I inform him of this, and he keeps insisting that I look at it. I'm really bad with numbers, and I really don't care. He says, "I'll get all my reciepts out of my truck! I'll show you!" So, he's been here for 3 months, and has a reciept every week. He shows me all of them and points out the discrepancies. I tell him that I still cannot do anything from this point. He told me that I was wasting his time...how? He wasted MY time AND his because I told him first off I can't do anything for him, and he insisted on showing me stuff and trying to get me to do something I have no control over...
So, he hasn't paid in over a month now. The front desk manager locked him out of his room so that he would have to pay before he could get back in. HOWEVER, he broke the lock on our sliding glass doors, and was getting in and out that way. Everyone has had it with him freeloading, so we called the cops to escort him off the property. Well, he sees the cops going towards his room (he was at the door), and takes off running. The cops yell at him to stop, and like an idiot, he runs faster. When they finally caught him, he said that he got scared and that's why he ran.
The GM was helping the cops catch him, and decided to go look at the room. He had a puppy in there. Now, we're not against having animals in our hotel- we don't even charge for them, but if they mess, we do charge. Well, the puppy had crapped and peed everywhere. We inform the guy of his, and he says, "Well, I work 16 hour days. I don't have time to take him out to use the bathroom and take care of him." WTF??? Our GM says, "Well, if you're so busy, don't have a dog, then." So, the guy pays up, and we check him out and tell him never to come back.
He bitched at the GM about his bill, and our GM showed him stuff from when he paid- everytime the guy paid, he still had unpaid balances because he wouldn't pay the whole amount.
The cops took him away because he didn't comply to an officer's orders- he should have not ran when the cops were after him. I feel for the poor dude, but he should really know better than that.
And while on the subject of paying the hotel bill, a guest called down tonight and asked if I could give him half of his money back because "I didn't realize I was going to be in the hole if I paid my bill...I get paid tomorrow. Can I have my money back?"
NO. Not only did he pay the bill on the B shift (and this is audit), but the cash drop was already made, so there was no refund to be had because he paid in cash, and it was dropped into the drop box. I inform him that I couldn't...and besides, if he gets paid tomorrow, why is he so worried about money tonight? I know he has food because I saw him with a box of easy-mac and a 2-liter root beer earlier... |

If anyone can give me some really sweet fonts, it would awesome c:
Simple ones, interesting ones, cool ones, your favorites.
I mainly want my green fuzz back, but other cool fonts will be pretty sweet.
oh and, if you guys could tell me where to save it on my computer and stuff.

I'm really tired of this new girl. Why is it that we always have one person that has to bother me. Seriously I work audit there's not much that I can screw up so she needs to stop being nit picky. First the girl used to call 15 min. til she was supposed to be here and tell me she'd be 15 min. late. Then an hour later she'd show up. Every single day she worked she did this. I finally told the owner and that seems to be fixed. Now she doesn't like me I guess because I told on her.

I hate it when guests believe Mapquest instead of ME, a human being who has lived in this area for 27 years!!! Okay, believe whatever the stupid internet map says, I don't care. Go get lost. You'd be doing me a favor.
Some dork came in and looked all perplexed. He said, "I was driving down highway 160 and I saw the exit for the Great Sand Dunes 16 miles from here. But that can't be right! This map I got on the internet says it's not that far!"
*Blink blink* um, WHAT?? You'd rather believe an internet map than your OWN EYES??? "No sir, you saw correctly. The exit is 16 miles from here and the park is about another 15 miles from the exit. So the trip will be about a half an hour."
"NO that is IMPOSSIBLE! That's not what this map says!!"
*BLIIIIIIIIIINK*..."Um...I'm sorry, but the map is wrong. I have lived here my whole life, have been going there at least once a year since I was a child, and the park is a half an hour away."
"Wow, that far? That can't be. That's not what the map says. Hmm. That is so weird."
Hoookay. I guess the internet is always right. Internet maps are God. I guess in the past day or so, the Sand Dunes just picked up all 32 square miles of itself and moved closer to town. YES that's actually a more reasonable explanation than an internet map being wrong! |

A particular guest, who has stayed here 2 or 3 times before, is back again this week. And again he's bitching about our wireless internet access not working on his cheap-ass Mac-Laptop. During bad weather of all times, when after being told a few times today, it doesn't work as well when it's raining or windy out. We don't know why, that's just the way it is.
Tonight he comes into my lobby, and I recognised him right away because he's been a total ass about it every time he's been here, plops himself on the lobby couch and tries for 15-20 minutes to get it to work to no avail. Then while I'm on the phone with another guest, he goes on about how 'this is a real issue' and that he has a few choice words for management about this. Then he just puts his shitty old Mac on my desk and leaves!
Oh that's right, I forgot! Instead of my BW nametag I accidentally put on my Geek Squad badge, silly me! So now not only is the lack of wireless connection my responsibility you expect me to fix your crappy-laptop as well? AFTER I offered you use of an ethernet cable or our business center?
First of all, this isn't a nice looking iMac or anything like that. This thing is so old it looks like something my Jr. High school computer lab might have used if they could afford it. Second, I glanced at his desktop and there are so many applications running on it (AIM, Yahoo Messenger, Mozilla, a lot that I don't recognise, etc...) that the bottom bar on his screen is completely full. I'm not suprised at all that it's not working, HE'S GOT TOO MUCH SHIT ON IT TO RUN PROPERLY!
I found him grumbling on the business center computer, I handed it back to him and left him alone.
Seriously, if you don't like the food at a restaurant then don't keep going there ever week! |
